GadgetOS for Claude and ChatGPT
Ask about your own store in plain language, and get the answer from your own live records. "What did I sell this week?" · "What's running out?" · "Who owes me money?" · "Log 5,000 taka rent."
Last updated: 4 September 2026 (Asia/Dhaka)
This is a connector for Claude — claude.ai and the Claude desktop and mobile apps. It reads and, if you switch it on, writes the records of the one store your GadgetOS account belongs to. It is not a separate app and there is nothing to install.
Everything below describes what the connector can and cannot do today. Where a limit exists it is a deliberate one, and this page says why.
The same connector is available inside ChatGPT as the GadgetOS app, and everything on this page is true there too. Only the first step differs — where you add it — so pick whichever you already use.
What you need before connecting
- A GadgetOS account for a live store — the same email and password you use to sign in to the admin app. A trial store works.
- Your two-factor code, if you have two-factor sign-in switched on. Passkey, Google and Apple sign-in all work too.
- A Claude account with connectors available, or a ChatGPT account — whichever you want to use. You do not need both.
That is all. There is no API key to generate, no token to paste, and nothing to configure on our side.
Connecting
Add GadgetOS to ClaudeThat link opens the GadgetOS listing in Claude's connector directory. You can also add it by hand:
- In Claude, open Settings → Connectors and add GadgetOS.
- Claude opens the GadgetOS sign-in page on gadgetos.work. Sign in as yourself.
- Approve the access it asks for. Read access lets it answer questions. Write access lets it make the changes listed below — and even with write access approved, changes stay off until the owner switches them on (see "Making changes").
- Ask it something. "How were sales this month?" is a good first question.
Your sign-in never leaves gadgetos.work. Claude never sees your password or your two-factor code.
Using it in ChatGPT instead
Open the GadgetOS app in ChatGPTThat link opens the GadgetOS app in ChatGPT's app directory. Add it once and it is available in any conversation.
- In ChatGPT, add the GadgetOS app from the link above, or find it by name in ChatGPT's apps directory.
- ChatGPT opens the GadgetOS sign-in page on gadgetos.work. Sign in as yourself and approve the access it asks for — the same read and write choice as below.
- Ask it something in any chat.
It is the same connector, reading the same one store, under the same limits — including changes staying off until the owner switches them on. Your sign-in never leaves gadgetos.work, and ChatGPT never sees your password or your two-factor code.
What it can answer
Sales and money
- Sales for any period, with the count, discounts, VAT and total
- Whether revenue is up or down against the previous period
- Gross profit, and the same figures split by brand, manufacturer or category
- What came in today, split by cash, bKash, Nagad, card and bank
- Any single invoice, line by line, by the number printed on the receipt
- Operating expenses for a period, with a breakdown by category
Stock
- What you have, how much of it, and what one of your devices costs and sells for
- What is at or below its reorder level, and what to reorder with a suggested quantity
- What is selling fastest and slowest, with days of cover left
- How much capital is sitting on the shelf, at cost and at retail
- What has not sold in 90 days, and the money tied up in it
- What has been written off, and why
People you deal with
- Which customers owe you, biggest first, and your total receivables
- One customer's full record: contact details, what they owe, remaining credit, loyalty points, lifetime spend, recent invoices, and what they usually buy
- Your suppliers, what you owe each of them, your total payables, and how old each debt is
- How each cashier is doing: sales, discounts given, and void rate
Your own shop details
- Storefront link, address and opening hours
- Contact numbers, BIN and TIN
- VAT rate, receipt width and plan
GadgetOS also answers — the repair and RMA desk: every claim with its status, the customer, the device and the estimate; one claim’s full history and timeline; whether a specific IMEI or serial is still under warranty; and one unit’s stock record. Plus the shared catalog of phones, laptops and accessories, for brand, specs and official images when you add a product.
Making changes
Changes are off by default. The store owner turns them on in Settings → Assistant in the GadgetOS app, and the account being used needs the right permission. Until then, every change is politely refused and nothing is written.
With changes on, it can:
- Create a new device, and update one — selling price, purchase cost, storage location, reorder level, name, or archiving and un-archiving it
- Receive stock into an existing device
- Receive a single serialized unit by its serial number or IMEI
- Log an operating expense
- Add a supplier
- Raise a draft purchase order — it is never sent to the supplier; you send it from Purchasing when you are ready
- Record a payment a customer has made against what they owe
GadgetOS also — book a device in for repair, and move a claim along to inspecting, estimate pending, approved, repairing, ready or delivered.
What it cannot do, on purpose
- Pay a supplier, refund a sale, or finalize a goods receipt. All three need a manager PIN, and the only way an assistant could satisfy a PIN is by asking you to type it into a chat — which is exactly what a second factor exists to prevent. They stay in the app.
- Reject or refund a warranty claim — same reason as a supplier payment.
- Ring a sale. The counter is the counter.
- Send a purchase order, or send any message to a customer or supplier on its own initiative.
- See any other store. Not a competitor, not another branch of someone else's chain, not the shop next door. Every request is scoped on our server to the one store your account belongs to, and no tool has a parameter that could ask for another.
Things worth knowing
- Money is in paisa internally. 150.00 taka is 15000. You will see taka in the answer; the number behind it is an integer, which is why there is never a rounding surprise.
- Dates are Asia/Dhaka. "This month" means this month here.
- MRP is reference information, not a price ceiling. Your selling price is yours. Nothing blocks or clamps a price because it differs from MRP.
- "You are owed" and "you owe" are different questions. Customer balances are money owed to you. Supplier balances are money you owe out.
- Gross profit is revenue minus cost of goods. It does not deduct rent, salaries or the rest — ask for expenses over the same period to get to net.
- An expired batch can never be sold. That block has no override anywhere in GadgetOS, and there is no way to reach around it from an assistant. Stock past its date goes through write-off.
If something is not working
| What you see | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| It asks you to sign in again | Your one-hour access token expired, or someone disconnected the connector | Sign in again from Claude's connector settings |
| “Making changes isn't switched on” | The owner has not enabled assistant changes | Owner: GadgetOS → Settings → Assistant → turn on assistant changes. This is a setting, not an outage — waiting will not fix it |
| “You don't have permission” | The account you connected lacks the permission for that change | Use an owner or admin account, or have your permissions updated |
| It says it needs write access | You approved read-only at sign-in | Disconnect and reconnect, approving write access |
| A shop detail is blank | The owner has not filled it in | GadgetOS → Settings → Store details |
| It cannot find a customer | Walk-in sales rung without a phone number are not linked to any customer record | Nothing is wrong — that person simply has no record |
| It will not pick between two matches | Two products, invoices or people matched what you said | Say which one; it will not guess |
Your data
Nothing is shared until you connect it. What Claude receives is whatever the question you asked requires, and the answer is delivered inside your own Claude account. We send Anthropic nothing on our own initiative, we never receive your conversation, and we train no models on your records.
Full detail:
Disconnecting
Settings → Connected apps → Disconnect in the GadgetOS app, or ask the assistant to log you out, or remove the connector in Claude. The connection ends — normally within seconds, and in every case once the access token already issued expires, at most an hour later. It only ever affects your own account; nobody else's connection changes.
